Joy's Oil Service
Our Oil Service has become one of the most popular services we offer at Joy Automotive Service & Repair, and warrants its own special section on this page!
The reason it is so popular is because after doing this for over 30 years, we have learned a few things, and have listened to our customers.
We use only Original Equipment parts. The fluids we use meet or exceed manufacturer standards.
Many of our customers have asked us to “take a peek” at things while their vehicle was upon our lifts, for things such as strange sounds or weird feeling in the steering wheel at highway speeds, for instance.
For the past decade we have since combined all elements of this service and offered it all in one package- Joy’s Oil Service!
Read below to see what an oil service with us entails. We’re certain you will agree with our customers that this service package is the best value in the neighborhood.
Every step of Joy’s Oil Service gets digitally documented for your convenience and peace of mind! Our Technician will perform an initial inspection to ensure proper operation of your vehicle’s basics- parking lights, head lights, high beams, turn signals, hazard flashers, AC & heat, and a visual determination there is no safety or service warning lights on the dash.
Under the hood, we visually ensure the engine bay looks proper, and inspect the engine’s air filter. Suspect or concerning conditions are recorded to be posted to your repair order.
Continuing the inspection process, your vehicle’s battery health is then checked using special eqiupment that measures not only proper voltage, but amperage as well.
Our battery tester can verify whether the battery is healthy, getting tired, or needs replacement immediately. Our technicians digitally document the results which are then attached to your repair order.
Your vehicle is then safely lifted to gain access to the underside.
All four wheels are then removed to be rotated later in the service.
With the wheels removed, we can now inspect the condition of your brakes and rotors. Using special tools, we verify and document the brake’s condition, including the remaining “life” of the brake pads, and quality of each rotor.
Because the braking system is a critical part of your safety, we ensure that this inspection gets tended to accurately and precisely. Again, you will be able to see evidence of this standard by the footage included in your repair order.
Equally critical to safe operation of your vehicle is the steering and suspension components. Technicians perform an inspection of these parts for signs of wear or damage.
Obviously, this isn’t related to the oil system of your vehicle; however, over the many years in business a very high percentage of our customers have asked us to “take a peek” at these areas due to strange sounds over bumps, or a slight feel in the steering at highway speeds.
For the past decade, we have since included this inspection as standard process of the Joy’s Oil Service as an added benefit to your vehicle’s health!
Joy Automotive has invested in specialized equipment allowing our Technicians to safely drain used fluids and remove old filters from your engine.
We take great pride not only in our abilities of effectively servicing vehicles, but doing so while upholding the highest standards of ecological mindfulness.
Our Service Porters regularly clean, maintain and test our equipment to ensure safe operation and transfer of used fluids to our recycling bins. Our bins get serviced each week by a certified collection operator which use certified methods to collect used fluids and filters, which are transported to special treatment and recycling plants.
Filter caps are thoroughly cleaned before installing new filters, seals or gaskets. This ensures your vehicle has absolutely zero leaks after our Technician has installed the new parts.
Additionally, drain plugs are inspected for wear, and are cleaned or entirely replaced based on the condition.
It should be noted that we use only Original Equipment parts and fluids, exactly like your dealership. The confidence in using the best possible products for your service allows you peace of mind.
Once the new filter has been installed, and pan drains have been verified closed, the undercar panels are reinstalled.
The tires are then reattached to the vehicle, ensuring each has been rotated from previous positions. This ensures a more even wear life overall, between front and rear tires. Once installed, each tire is then verfied for proper inflation before the vehicle is lowered back to ground level.
Ahh, new fluids! We use only the matching grade (or better) of oil for your specific vehicle, as designated by your vehicle manufacturer.
Unless otherwise specified, Joy Automotive Service & Repair proudly uses Castrol full synthetic, or synthetic blend oils.
As part of the completion phase, we will do a final inspection for evidence of fluid leaks while topping off coolant, brake, and windshield washer fluids.
Evidence of leaks will be digitally documented and attached to the repair order for review by your Service Advisor.
The Service Technician will then connect their special diagnostic computer to your vehicle to reset the service reminder function- this is what controls when the reminder light turns on in your instrumentation when an oil change service is warranted.
Lastly, the Technician will print a reminder decal and affix it to the inside top left corner of the windshield as a visual reminder of when your vehicle’s next Joy’s Oil Service is due!
Once the Service Technician is completed, your vehicle then gets moved to the wash bay for some attention by our Service Porters!
They will give your vehicle a complementary car wash, including exterior wash and tire dressing. This has become one of the most appreciated features of Joy’s Oil Service by our customers!
